Western Arctic Project

The people of the Gwich'in sought partners in a project that is absolutely vital to them: the protection of the Three Rivers area (Peel River Watershed) in the border region between the Yukon Territory and the Northwest Territories, Canada. Wilderness International has taken up the challenge.

Welcome to the conservation projects of Wilderness International. On these pages you can find out more about the Western Canada project, which focuses on the protection of endangered coastal rainforests together with the Cowichan Tribes of Vancouver Island. The project involves students and includes conservation expeditions. In the western Arctic, we are working with the Gwich'in Indians on the establishment of an ireland-wide nature reserve. Our photographer JL Diehl shows us the "Three Rivers".
