Protecting habitats for the stories of tomorrow

My forest was born from a simple but powerful idea: every wildlife encounter begins with a place. Every amazing animal needs a home. Through the Amazon rainforest, millions of people have experienced the thrill, beauty, and wonder of the natural world, but behind every filmed moment lies a fragile ecosystem that makes these stories possible.

By protecting this forest, we are not only safeguarding biodiversity, we are preserving the very foundation of wildlife itself. When we protect habitats, we protect entire living worlds so the stories we share today can still be told tomorrow.

US$1 or CAN$1.50 protects 1 m² of irreplaceable habitat forever. Are you in?

Our mission is simple: bring people closer to wildlife. Now it's about ensuring those wild places are still there to explore for future generations. Every animal needs a home, and in the Brave Wilderness Forest, we will ensure they have one forever.

Every contribution helps protect a home for wildlife

Jaguars, monkeys, towering rainforest trees, and countless other species call the Peruvian Amazon home. It’s one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, but its forests are under growing pressure.

Your support helps preserve this extraordinary rainforest and protects the habitat that wildlife depends on. Together, we can help ensure this forest remains wild for generations to come.

About Wilderness International

Wilderness International is a conservation organization with teams in Canada, Peru, and Germany. We permanently protect threatened wilderness and the wildlife, ecosystems, and communities that depend on them. We purchase wilderness areas, which remain in our ownership and under our protection.

These land purchases are refinanced through donations from people who believe these forests are worth protecting. Together with our partners, we support the long-term protection of wilderness through conservation, environmental education, and research.

Giving FAQ

  • What does Wilderness International do?

Wilderness International is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to protecting Earth’s last remaining old-growth forests and wilderness in Canada and Peru. We protect these wild spaces from vanishing forever and preserve them for future generations through the permanent, legally secure purchase of ecologically valuable and threatened wilderness around the world. These land purchases are funded through donations where supporters receive exact geographical coordinates for the specific area of forest they’ve helped protect.
  • What does my donation support?

Your donation helps protect threatened rainforest in the Peruvian Amazon. It supports the long-term protection of the forest and the work needed to care for these protected areas.
  • Can I make a one-time or recurring donation?

You can choose a one-time or recurring donation when you give. One-time donations have no ongoing commitment or obligation.
  • What do I receive after donating?

After receipt of your donation, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to your donor portal. From the portal, you can download your personalized Wilderness Protection Certificate (featuring exact GPS coordinates and aerial photography), view your piece of forest on our interactive map, and download your official tax receipt.
  • How do you process donations in USD?

US dollar donations are processed through our partner, American Friends of Canadian Conservation (AFCC), a registered US 501(c)(3) public charity. Selecting USD on the donation form routes your gift through AFCC, ensuring eligible US donors receive an official 501(c)(3) tax receipt. Once processed, you'll receive an email from WI with instructions about how to download your certificate.
  • How do you ensure protected land remains protected?

We purchase and legally register land before requesting donations. Contributions then refinance the purchase of land that is already secured, so your support protects a specific area Wilderness International already owns.

All three Wilderness International organizations (Canada, Germany, Peru) are registered as co-owners on the land title. This shared ownership structure prevents any single entity or individual from unilaterally selling or altering the property. Our bylaws require the forest to remain untouched, prohibit resale, and limit site access strictly to research and documentation.

Furthermore, under the British Columbia Trespass Act, private land title registered to conservation foundations legally prohibits unauthorized entry, industrial logging, and development, ensuring permanent legal protection.

  • How are local communities involved?

In Peru, we work with people in the surrounding communities on conservation, environmental education, and sustainable ways of using the forest. Our Forest Guardians also maintain contact with local communities as part of their work protecting the forest. Learn more about our work in Peru.
