Giving FAQ

  • How do I receive my Wilderness Protection Certificate?

As soon as your donation is completed, you can download your PDF certificate directly from the donor portal. A link to access your portal is sent to your email immediately after donating. You can also request a temporary 30-minute login link on the portal page at any time.
  • What obligations do I have as a donor?

None at all. A donation is a one-time or recurring gift with no ongoing financial or legal obligations. Legal ownership of the land remains permanently with our registered non-profit entities to guarantee its protection forever.
  • I want to gift a certificate to someone. What details do I need to provide on the donation form?

Under Your contact details, please enter your own personal information. This ensures all payment confirmations, portal access, and official tax receipts are issued directly to you.

    To customize the gift:

    1. Look for the section titled Your wilderness protection certificate.
    2. Select "Would you like to personalize or gift the certificate?"
    3. Enter the recipient's name as you would like it to appear on the certificate.
    4. Add a personalized occasion if you wish (e.g., "For your 18th birthday" or "Happy Holidays").

  • Will I receive a printed or digital certificate?

Certificates are issued digitally as high-resolution, print-ready PDF files. This eliminates paper waste and shipping emissions, ensuring 100% of donor resources go toward land conservation. You can download and print your certificate at home via the donor portal or forward the digital file directly to a gift recipient.
  • What percentage of my donation really protects wilderness?

95% of all donor funds go directly into land acquisition, research, ecological assessments, forest protection, and environmental education. Administrative and operating costs are kept under 5% thanks to corporate sponsorships and equipment donations.
  • How do you process donations in USD?

US dollar donations are processed through our partner, American Friends of Canadian Conservation (AFCC), a registered US 501(c)(3) public charity. Selecting USD on the donation form routes your gift through AFCC, ensuring eligible US donors receive an official 501(c)(3) tax receipt. Once processed, you'll receive an email from WI with instructions about how to download your certificate.
