Frequently Asked Questions

  • What obligations does sponsorship entail for me?

There are no further obligations on your part. The donation is a one-off payment and enables us, as a foundation, to ensure the long-term protection of the area. The sponsorship is symbolic. The woodland remains the property of the foundation.
  • How do I get my certificate?

You can download the certificate from the donations portal. We’ll send you the link to the donations portal in a confirmation email straight after you’ve made your donation. Click on the ‘Open donations portal’ link included in that email. Alternatively, you can request a login link here; this will be valid for 30 minutes.

In the donation portal, select your donation, click on ‘Your documents’ and you’ll see the word ‘Certificate’ in the top-left corner of the menu bar.

  • I want to give a certificate as a gift – what details do I need to provide on the donation form?

Please make sure you also provide your personal details under ‘Your contact details’. This is important for allocating the donation, so that only you receive all the information and the donation receipt. Further down, under ‘Wildlife Conservation Certificate’, you can enter the name of the person you’re giving the gift to, as well as a personalised occasion (e.g. ‘For their 18th birthday’).
  • How do I receive my donation receipt?

Two weeks after your donation, you will receive a notification from us containing a link to your donation receipt. This, like the certificate, is available to download from the donations portal. Alternatively, you can request a link to the donations portal here, which will be valid for 30 minutes. In the donation portal, select your donation, click on ‘Your documents’ and then on ‘Receipt’ in the top-left menu. Please don’t forget to add your registered address to complete the process. You can do this by clicking on the small pencil icon. If you have donated before and already provided your address, you do not need to do this again.

If you have set up a regular donation, you will receive a summary donation receipt for your donations over the course of a year on 31 January of the following year.

Good to know: If the amount donated is less than €300, you can alternatively use your bank statement for your tax return.

  • How can we ensure that the protected area is preserved for all time?

In Canada, we are aided by the high level of legal certainty and the legal framework, as well as the penalties – which even prohibit trespass – and the cultural and historical significance of property.

In Peru, we have also launched a forest ranger programme in collaboration with local people. We have put several measures in place to ensure long-term protection. Generally speaking, we visit the areas on regular expeditions to check that everything is in order. We also work with local partners who inform us if necessary. The donations per square metre also already include the costs of property tax.

The legal form of the foundation, unlike any other, enables it to fulfil a (charitable) purpose permanently and independently of external interests, thereby achieving the desired long-term effects. It is thus the most long-term organisational structure currently known. Not even states, companies or national parks are designed to last that long. This makes the foundation the only organisation oriented towards the lifespan of the ecosystems we protect.
